Tattooed Lips

This falls into the same category as henna tattoos, temporary tattoos, and fake tattoo sleeves. Temporary fashion fun. These temporary tattooed lips are for cool and can get you some attention. I like the patterns and colors they’ve come up with. It gives you a pretty dramatic look and I love the high glossy finish some of the patterns have.

To me it looks like they may a bit of a hassle to apply but I’m not really into spending major time getting decked out to go anywhere. Then I’m wondering – what happens when you eat or drink? Do you have to be worried about messing up the lips by getting them wet? Worry about smearing? And then how are they removed? Well worth the price to give it a shot if it strikes your fancy. For under $15 you get 3 tattoo application.

Keeping Your Loved Ones Close

When you lose a loved one, it is common to keep something belonging to them so you can feel that you have a part of them forever.

But this has been taken to a whole new level in a craze which takes the cremated remains from loved ones and mixes it with tattoo ink and then the ink is used by the artist to create a piece of art that pays tribute to the deceased.

This process has been going on for at least 30 years but only caught on recently. These tattoos are called commemorative or ritual tattoos. Using cremation ashes, known as “cremains”, is occurring more and more often. Individuals are getting their loved one’s ashes injected into their tattoo work.

It’s more of a symbolic gesture in my opinion. The amount of remains used in the process is microscopic and has to be sterilized to allow it to be safe to be injected into your skin with the ink.

Discover Roman Abrego

I haven’t done a post about a specific artist in awhile. I’ve been concentrating that type of research for other projects – but in case you haven’t heard of this guy – I’d like to draw your attention – because the guy will knock your socks off. He is so exceptional; I want to share this with anyone that wasn’t aware of his art work. Roman Abrego is one of those artists that was born to tattoo. It would have been a sin if this man had never been drawn to tattooing.

Although his career started out rocky – as in spending time in jail – this opportunity gave Roman an opportunity to shift his focus on his art. He worked construction for a bit but eventually tried his hand at tattooing. He now owns his own tattoo shop – Artistic Element in Yucaipa, California. Visit his shops can see more of his work there.

A Murderer’s Tattoos Help the Cops

Who would have thought that tattoos would be able to wrap up a cold case and help land a bad guy in jail?

Tattoos are becoming law enforcement’s friend. The police use tattoos to determine gang affiliation and to identify possible suspects for various crimes. Along with your mug shot you are likely to have your tattoos photographed and documented as well. Smart on the part of the police to use whatever means they have to help keep violence down.

So, even though gang members are well aware that their tattoos can be used against them, they still continue to make the same stupid mistakes when it comes to their body art – fortunately.

A California gang member by the name of Anthony Garcia was just found guilty in the murder of John Juarez which took place outside of a liquor store about 7 years ago. This means that Garcia was just barely 18 at the time.

Christine's Sleeve of Colorful Flowers and Butterflies

Some posts don't need a lot of explaining. I met Christine on 3rd Avenue in Bay Ridge earlier this month, and she shared these stunning tattoos, perfect for celebrating on a warm spring day:

Don't Sit Under the Cherry Tree with Anyone Else but Me

I spotted Christina one Friday afternoon in Penn Station, sporting this awesome cherry blossom tattoo:

She took some photos in to Jason Loui, then at Redemption Tattoo in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He sketched out a design, and the rest is history. Mr. Loui now works out of Good Faith Tattooing, in Brookline, Massachusetts.
